Calgary fire crews remain on the scene of a major fire in Cranston that broke out at about 11 p.m. Friday night.
When firefighters arrived in the 200 block of Cranford Park S.E., they found a two storey townhouse fully involved, with flames already impinging on neighbouring homes.
Battalion Chief Stu Laird told Global News they couldn’t get into the home because of the size of the fire.
“Crews went into a mode where we protect the exposures. They put up water towers and we had some ground attack lines as well, ” said Laird.
A second alarm was called to bring in extra manpower to the point where there were about 40 firefighters working on the blaze.
All occupants got out safely. A 35 year old man was taken to hospital as a precaution.
The home where the fire started suffered significant damage and two neighbouring homes were also affected.
Crews remain on the scene watching for hot spots.
There is no word on the cause of the fire.
