Calgary firefighters battled a blaze in an industrial area in the city’s southeast on Wednesday.
Emergency crews were called to a commercial scrap yard in the 3500 block of 52 Street S.E. shortly after 11 a.m.
“This appears to be a salvage yard or a storage yard for older vehicles,” Calgary Fire Department spokesperson Carol Henke said. “When fire crews arrived there were several vehicles on fire and the fire was impinging on an ATCO trailer.”
Plumes of black smoke were visible from kilometres away.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Due to the fire, Calgary police closed down several area roads including 52 Street S.E.
