City Councillor Richard Pootmans is replacing Diane Colley-Urquhart on the police commission.
Colley-Urquhart quit earlier this year after getting her knuckles rapped over the comments about harrassment and bullying complaints in the Calgary Police Service.
In a release, commission Chair Brian Thiessen said Pootmans joins the body at a time when it is actively engaged in working with CPS on issues including gender equity, use of force, and community engagement.
“Councillor Pootmans brings a wealth of experience and sound judgement to this role and we look forward to welcoming him at our next meeting on March 28, and to gaining the insights he will bring.”
Pootmans will represent council on the commission until the end of October when the municipal election is held.
Ward Sutherland is the other city councillor who sits on the commission.
