In a keynote address at the annual CERAweek oil and gas conference in Houston, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made the case for investing in Canadian natural resources. He told that crowd that “nothing is more essential to the U-S economy than access to a secure, reliable source of energy.”
He added — quote — “Canada is that source.”

In a question and answer session after his speech, the prime minister made it clear he’s completely against a proposed U-S border adjustment tax.
He told the global gathering of politicians and energy executives that the levy would hurt both the American and Canadian economies.
Last night’s key note address was a first for a Canadian prime minister.

Trudeau will spend one more day in Houston. He will meet today with the governor of Texas and a senator from Alaska today. He’s also set to hold a roundtable discussion with business leaders on the second day of a visit to the heart of the U-S oilpatch.
