RCMP have laid charges against a Red Deer man accused of making and passing counterfeit money around Canmore and Exshaw.
On Feb. 23 a number of local businesses reported that they believed counterfeit U.S. currency had been passed at their establishments, in $50 and $20 denominations.
After investigating, Canmore RCMP arrested a suspect alleged to have passed the counterfeit bills. A number of the bills were found in the suspect’s possession.
22 year old Jesse Strongeagle-Geddes has been charged with numerous offences including multiple counts of making and passing counterfeit bills.
Investigators would still like to hear from any Canmore and Exshaw businesses who have $50 or $20 U.S. bills that were passed Feb. 23.
