A Calgary city councillor is calling for a review to be done into the amount of police-involved shootings in the city this year.
Brian Pincott says he plans to ask the police commission to review the situation when council meets again.
He believes police are dealing with difficult situations these days – like fentanyl and an unstable labour market.
Pincott says he wants to make sure police have the right tools, both emotional and physical, to deal with today’s criminals.
A 27 year old woman was shot and killed in Sunalta Tuesday morning. It was the 10th police-involved shooting this year and 5th fatality.
Calgary Police Association Vice President Mike Baker has tweeted that Pincott is “uninformed.”
