As tough losses go, this one will sting badly.
After so much so good for so long, the Stampeders faltered badly in the first half.
How and why they came out of the gate so flat is something that will be debated all off-season.
Bo Levi Mitchell was uncharacteristically erratic for the first thirty minutes. However, his receivers didn’t exactly help him through the evening.
That all changed in the second half when they found their stride.
That stirring comeback ultimately fell short. No doubt there will be debate about Andrew Buckley’s goal line surge late in the game, but that is a question for the off-season.
My take? The Stampeders are a very good team, in need of very little change. However, this good team picked a bad time to play one of their least-polished games of the year.
No worries, they will be back. But, it doesn’t take the sting away from the loss in Toronto.
