…my glass is half full on the Stampeder season, tough as it seems today. As you’d expect, players are taking to Twitter today, talking about their crushing despair after last night, and how all of what they accomplished this season doesn’t mean anything. And that’s fair. For now.
In time, I hope players and fans can look back on the good from the season, exemplified by their response to the Mylan Hicks tragedy. That sort of thing can tear a team apart, or bring it together, and you know how the Stampeders responded. If you saw the picture of Osagie Odiase sitting with Mylan’s mom on the bench pre game and didn’t choke up a little, well, that’s on you.
There was the emergence of Dave Dickenson as a head coach, the discovery of a bright star in Davaris Daniels, Bo Levi Mitchell’s MOP season, Jerome Messam silencing anyone who still questioned his ability as a big time player, the offensive line keeping it together through injury after injury, Roy Finch emerging as an impact returner, the list goes on.
Having to say ‘Wait until next year’ sucks. But take the edge off how it ended with a look at they got here.
