Police in Lethbridge have laid charges following a dangerous chain of events, that left one officer injured and three police cars damaged.
It happened as police were investigating a series of property crimes.
Police say an officer located a female suspect parked outside a restaurant in the 2000 block of Mayor Magrath Drive South. The officer parked behind the vehicle and as he went to exit his own vehicle, the suspect backed into him.
Police say the woman refused to obey police commands and fled in her vehicle, hitting three police cruisers and another vehicle.
The same suspect was also involved in a three-car collision on Mayor Magrath Drive. The vehicle was later determined to be stolen.
The officer who was hit by the vehicle was treated in hospital for minor injuries and released. The suspect was also treated for minor injuries.
Alyssa Chantel Krushel, 22, faces a string of charges, including assault of a peace officer with a weapon and dangerous driving. Additional charges are expected.
Her next court appearance is set for Nov. 25.
