Members of the Calgary Police have a magazine called “10-4, Back the Blue” put out by the Calgary Police Association. It is a magazine that is not meant for the public and Officers are able to write columns that are printed in the magazine.
The scan of the first column titled “Stop Whining” is by Constable Geoff Hoover and laments the complaints over harassment in the force and that, “whining doesn’t do anyone any good.”
Further down we’ve included a scan of a second column with a rebuttal titled, “The Cultural Shift of Policing – Rebuttal to ‘Stop Whining'” by Constable Jen Ward. She is also being interviewed by Danielle Smith.
We thought it would be important to share them to understand both arguments and see what Calgary Police member are hearing and seeing when it comes to the debate on harassment within the service.
