A Calgary woman accused of faking her fight with cancer to bilk Good Samaritans out of thousands of dollars pleaded guilty to fraud on Tuesday.
Police charged Jennifer Halford with seven counts of fraud under $5,000 in May. Police later laid an additional four charges against her, bring the total to 11.
Halford solicited donations – mostly in the form of gift certificates, food and some cash – which she claimed were for her cancer treatments and other expenses.
Halford’s five-year-old daughter died in January 2011 after a four-year battle with Mitochondrial Disease.
On Tuesday, Halford pleaded guilty to seven counts of fraud under $5,000.
