Two people are recovering in hospital after a single-vehicle rollover near the intersection of Highway 40 and Highway 579.
EMS confirmed a vehicle rolled down an embankment north of Waiparous.
The call came in at around 10 a.m. Monday. As of 12:40 p.m., emergency crews were still on scene.
It’s believed the crash happened around 8 p.m. the night before.
A man and a woman in their 40’s were able to get out safely, but were unable to contact emergency services until Monday morning.
EMS say they were able to start a fire for warmth and signal emergency services.
STARS air ambulance was called due to the distance from the city and the length of time it took to contact emergency crews.
The man suffered serious injuries to his back and leg and was flown by STARS in non life-threatening condition to the Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary.
The woman was transported by ground ambulance to the Didsbury Hospital with a shoulder injury.
Both were suffering from mild exposure as a result of being outside all night.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
