A teenage boy and two 18-year-old men from central Alberta are facing charges after an attempted robbery and assault in Ponoka.
RCMP were called just before 5 a.m. Wednesday to a complaint of an assault with a weapon. Police said a man was outside his vehicle when three other males threatened him and tried to steal his vehicle.
According to police, the victim was able to scare off two of the suspects. However, one stayed behind and assaulted the man with a weapon before fleeing. The suspects did not steal the vehicle.
The victim was treated for minor injuries at a local hospital and released.
Ponoka RCMP, police dog services and Maskwacis RCMP worked together to identified and located the three males, who were arrested and brought into custody with no incident.
A youth, who can’t be named due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was charged with robbery, assault, and fail to comply with disposition.
Chase Brown, 18, of Maskwacis was charged with robbery, assault, assault with a weapon and three counts of failing to comply with disposition.
Storm Rain, 18, of Maskwacis was charged with robbery, assault and assault with a weapon.
Both Brown and Rain made their first court appearance in Ponoka on Friday morning.
