Thank you Minnesota Wild. Your cheap shots have deprived the Flames of their top gun, and just as importantly, deprived the paying public of a chance to see one of the NHL’s mroe exciting players for a month or more.
The fact that Wild players, or players on any team for that matter are allowed to hack away at the hands of star players is soooooooooo NHL. The league turns a blind eye to protecting its stars, and now a star’s on the sidelines not because of an injury that’s part of the game, but thanks to the opposition’s deliberate attempts to injure him.
The league can make this go away simply by calling what’s in the rule book (See rule 43-Attempt to injure) but I doubt that’s going to happen. And the players people are actually willing to pay to see remain at risk.
