A woman remains in hospital in serious condition after a stabbing inside a home in Coral Springs Thursday afternoon.
Police were alerted to the incident inside the residence by a young girl, believed to be around 10 years old.
Neighbours tell Global News the girl ran out of her home yesterday at about 4:30 p.m. looking for help.
“She rang the doorbell a couple of times, and my wife doesn’t walk that well so by the time she got here, she’d already walked back down that way.”
The girl managed to alert some construction workers nearby and she also called 911.
Acting Duty Staff Sergeant Travis Juska tells Global News says police arrived as the woman was being stabbed and arrested a man at the scene.
“It certainly builds our grounds for a case when officers are walking in while the incident is taking place and we can certainly credited those officers at the scene for likely saving that woman’s life.”
The woman suffered critical injuries and was rushed to hospital.
The child was unhurt and is in the care of emergency social services.
Neighbours say a middle-aged man and woman live in the home with the child.
