It appears Canadian kids need to step it up when it comes to physical activity.
A report out earlier this year indicated kids still aren’t as active as they could be, and now a new study finds they’re among the least active in the world.
Researchers, who put together the annual ParticipAction Report Card, compared Canada’s youth physical activity record to data from 37 other countries and found kids here placed near the bottom of the list.
Canada earned a D- grade, alongside the U.S., England, Spain and Australia.
It’s estimated only about 9% of kids here, aged five to 17, get the daily recommended minimum of sixty minutes of “heart-pumping activity.”
Researchers suggest Canadian kids should make unstructured play a regular part of their everyday lives, and reduce time on electronic devices.
