As city council continues to grapple with the possibilities surrounding the Green Line LRT, it’s also preparing for a visit with the provincial transportation and infrastructure minister.
Brian Mason says he will be in Calgary on Friday for a chat, which will likely include the project.
Council spent several hours talking about the line on Monday, and the possible “Plan B” scenarios if funding doesn’t come through.
No timeline has been given on the $1.5-billion commitment from the federal government and there’s been nothing concrete from the province.
Mason says one of the challenges has been the price-tag.
“It’s a very big and expensive project and part of the difficulty in making that commitment has been their work to try to nail down a price on the project, because it has been, I think, growing.”
He’s hopeful a solution will be in place in time for the province’s spring budget.
