Thousands pay tribute on Remembrance Day
Thousands of Calgarians gathered at the Military Museums along Crowchild Trail.
Veteran Rick Ostashower was there and says this day is the most important to him.
“Remembrance Day is the most sacred day of the year, religion and what not excepted, this is the day that we truly pay homage to those that allow us to be here.”
Ostashower is a decorated 40 year veteran who has served all around the world.
Since 2009, the field along Memorial Drive west of Centre Street has been filled with white crosses memorializing over 3,000 southern Alberta soldiers who have died in battle since the Boer War in 1899.
Hundreds of Calgarians attended a ceremony there.
