Federal finance minister Bill Morneau was in Calgary Thursday holding pre budget consultations with a number of groups as well as the Mayor.
The finance minister met with business groups, heads of post secondary institutions and Mayor Naheed Nenshi.
He is looking for input as preparations begin for next year’s budget. Morneau is also selling the fall economic update released two days ago.
Morneau says he’s confident that private sector pension funds and other big investors will want to get involved in the so called Canada infrastructure bank which could provide an estimated $20 billion in capital for public infrastructure.
He says that program can help get more transit projects funded.
