Alberta Health Services has launched its second annual backpack drive for Calgary’s homeless.
The backpacks will be donated to provide homeless people with a safe place to store belongings, such as medicine, job applications and valuables.
They can be dropped off weekdays at any of the following locations:
- The Sunridge Professional Centre, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- The Operational Stress Injury Clinic, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- The Safe Communities Opportunity and Resource Centre (SORCe), from 8 a.m. to 4:30 a.m.
- Pathways to Housing, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
There are 3,500 homeless people in Calgary, which is more than half of Alberta’s homeless population. About one-third of the homeless veterans in the province, or about 90, live in Calgary.
