Alberta Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) have taken over an investigation into a worker’s death at a south Edmonton work site Tuesday.
According to police, officers were called to a City of Edmonton work site at 14260 Ellerslie Road just after 3:30 p.m.
They said they were asked to respond to reports of a “workplace accident” there.
Once officers arrived, police said they found the body of a 44 year old man.
A city spokesperson said the officers were called to a drainage project site.
Police said OHS is investigating what caused the death and said the accident appeared to have occurred underground.
At this point it’s not clear whether the man was a City of Edmonton employee or with a private contractor.
