Hey Remember that Flames’ President’s Trophy winner in ’88? How about the Patriots and their 18-0 run to the Super Bowl in ’07?
You remember the ’89 Flames for winning the Stanley Cup, and the ’07 New York Giants for stunning that Patriots powerhouse to win the Super Bowl. Sooooooo…..The Stampeders missing a shot at being the best regular season team in CFL history will be little more than a footnote…IF they win two more games.
“We’re looking to capture a Grey Cup. This obviously hasn’t taken that away from us.” That was Micah Johnson’s takeaway from Sunday’s season-ending loss in Montreal. Rob Cote was even more blunt.
“Now we don’t have to worry about being the greatest team ever, we just have to worry about being a Grey Cup champion.”
Forgetting the record, it would have been nice to see some better football than we saw Sunday, just to build a little momentum heading into the long pre-playoff break. So, that’ll cause a little fan anxiety wondering if the intensity will be there after a long layoff preceded by a string of mean-nothing games.
Me, I’ll save my anxiety for the injury report on Jamar Wall and Ciante Evans.
