Calgary police have identified the victim of a deadly shooting in the community of Riverbend.
Police were called to the 100-block of Riverbend Drive SE, just before 11am, and when they arrived they found the man seriously injured in the backseat of a car.
The victim, 26-year-old Kyle Rowe, was declared dead at the scene.
Neighbours say it was a startling sight.
“This is very unusual,” Blake Dennill told Global News. “I’ve lived in this neighbourhood for 27 years now and nothing like this ever happens.”
He says they haven’t had a break-in in the community in nearly 25 years, although he says this incident does raise some questions, as his son was shot with a BB Gun a couple of weeks ago, and he thinks the SUV found at the scene is similar to the one driven by the person who shot his boy.
Police continue to investigate.
Investigators believe this was a targeted attack, although they haven’t pinpointed an exact motive yet.
They are looking into reports that a dark-coloured minivan was seen leaving the area shortly after the shooting.
