A snowfall warning is in effect for Banff National Park.
Environment Canada says heavy snow began falling in some areas of the park overnight, and the snowfall is expected to continue until late this morning.
The Banff townsite and other areas at lower elevations will get snow mixed with rain so accumulations are expected to be in the two to five centimeter range.
On high terrains, including the Icefields Parkway accumulations of 10 to 15 centimeters are expected.
Motorists are warned to prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions.
