A machine gun capable of firing hundreds of rounds per minute was one of seven firearms seized after a three-month drug investigation in central Alberta.
The Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team, ALERT, says the MAC-11 was found Oct. 11th when officers searched three homes in Sylvan Lake and one in Red Deer. The machine gun was equipped with a silencer and found with two extended clip magazines. The weapon was found inside the Red Deer home of 26-year-old Justin Sandquist, who was on bail for an Edmonton homicide investigation at the time of the raid.
Other weapons seized include rifles, shot guns and a loaded handgun along with body armour and ammunition. Investigators also found cocaine, pills and drug trafficking paraphernalia. Lundquist and five other people were arrested. All six suspects face a total of 38 drug and firearms-related charges.
