The Flames were looking to make it 2-for-2 on their tough mid-west road-trip to the Central Division Tuesday evening, taking on the Blackhawks and Blues in back-to-back nights.
They topped Chicago 3-2 in a 7 round shootout on Monday and flew into St. Louis after the game.
The Flames were looking for a quick start and they got it against the Blues.
Some nice goals from Dennis Wideman and Deryk Engelland puts the Flames ahead 2-0 after the first 20 minutes.
Sam Bennett added his own early on in the second period to build the lead to 3.
The Flames got into some penalty trouble in the final frame. With Sam Bennett and Mark Giordano in the box, St. Louis scored on the 5-on-3 off the stick of Kevin Shattenkirk to bring the lead back down to 2. That wasn’t the start of some big comeback, however, with Johnny Gaudreau putting it in the empty net to seal the win.
The Flames now head back home for a match-up against the Senators on Friday, October 28th.
