The Calgary Flames played hard, but were unable to defeat the visiting St. Louis Blues Saturday evening at the Saddledome, losing 6-4.
Flames took a 2-1 lead early in the 2nd period, but St. Louis came back with 3 unanswered goals in the 2nd to take the lead, which they were able to hold for the remainder of the game.
Kris Versteeg scored his first and second goal as a Calgary Flame. The first coming a little over two minutes in the first period to open the scoring for Calgary, and the second coming with 5 minutes remaining in the third to make it a one goal game at 5-4.
The Flames battled hard after Versteegs second, but it was Alexander Steen who put the final nail in the coffin with an empty net goal with under a minute remaining to seal the deal for the Flames.
Calgary’s next game is on Monday the 24th in Chicago. Next home game is the following Friday, October 28th, when they play host to the Ottawa Senators.
