Alberta’s premier will deliver a state of the province address later today, at a time when support for Rachel Notley’s NDP has plunged to third place.
A year and a half after the NDP swept to power in Alberta, a new poll finds the PCs are number one again among decided voters.
Overall the Progressive Conservatives have 38.4 per cent support, followed by the Wildrose at 25.7 per cent, and the NDP at 19.7 per cent.
The Liberals have 9.4 per cent support, while the Alberta Party has 3.5 per cent.
The poll, from the Citizen Society Research Lab at Lethbridge College also found that 66 per cent of those asked would prefer the PCs and Wildrose form a unified party in the next provincial election.
Although most of the unite-the-right discussion is being led by PC leadership candidate Jason Kenney, it’s Wildrose supporters who are most strongly in favour of a united conservative party.
The phone survey of over 1,500 adults was conducted during the first week of October.
Today’s state of the province address will be delivered from the Jack Singer Concert Hall at 12:30.
The event will be video live-streamed on the premier’s Facebook page and on YouTube at alberta.ca/news
