You might notice a lot of police and fire members around the Bow River today.
Calgary Police, RCMP and the Calgary Fire Department will be conducting a search of the river today in an attempt to find any missing persons who may have ended up in the water.
In a release Tuesday police said it’s not a search for anyone specific, but officials traditionally search the river and its banks this time of year, because the water is at its lowest.
“It is an unfortunate reality that some people voluntarily enter or fall into the dangerous waters of the river and are unable to get themselves out. By conducting the search, police hope to be able to bring some answers to families that have missing loved ones.”
HAWCS will also be involved to conduct an aerial search.
Calgary Police and Fire will search the water within the city limits while RCMP will search from the southern city limits and continue east toward the Saskatchewan border.
