It’s a nightmare situation for Samsung.
The company is halting sales of the Galaxy Note 7 smartphone after fires involving the new devices that were supposed to be safe replacements for recalled models.
Samsung Canada issued a statement late Monday asking all stores to stop sales and exchanges of the Galaxy Note 7.
The company, based in Mississauga say Canadian customers with either an original Galaxy Note 7 or a replacement Galaxy Note 7 should power down and stop using it.
Further details, including a full refund at place of purchase are expected to be announced shortly.

Safety authorities in South Korea say they have found a possible new product defect in the new Note 7 that may not be related to its batteries.
Last month Samsung said a tiny manufacturing error in the battery was to blame for the fires.
