The Calgary Stampeder’s were in Toronto Monday afternoon where the weather was much better than it was at home. The sun was shining and not snowflake to be seen as the Stamps had a perfect opening drive that ended in a touchdown and 2 point convert making it 8-0. Rene Paredes had a 35 yard field goal to make it 11-0 still in the first. To wrap up the quarter Calgary’s Kamar Jordan caught one in the end zone for a touchdown add another 2 point convert and it was 19-0 for the Stamps.
The Argonauts opened scoring in the second with a field goal making it 19-3 for Calgary. And it seemed that’s all Toronto could manage add another field goal making it 19-6. The Stamps answered back with a 61 yard pass and run by DaVaris Daniels for a touchdown making it 25-6, Calgary. A brawl ensued in the end zone just after the 3 minute warning resulting in Marquay McDaniel being ejected as well as Argo player Devon Smith who threw the first punch. Calgary was on the one yard line when all was said and done and Andrew Buckley made good on the position, touchdown Stamps with the extra point it was 32-6 Calgary. To end the half Mr. Automatic put up a few more points to make it 35-6 ending the quarter.
Roy Finch was hurt in the first half of the game he was out with an arm injury while the Stamps added another filed goal to make it 38-6 Calgary. The Argos finally get a touchdown in the third and add the extra point to make it 38-13 to end the quarter.
To start the fourth Rob Cote made it into the end zone as the Stamps broke the 40 point mark and the extra point made it 45-13. The Argos tried to come back again with a touchdown from Diontae Spencer with the extra point it was 45-20, Stamps. Drew Tate came into the game, shortly after it was Andrew Buckley in at QB with Tate directing. The result was the Stamps in field goal range making it 48-20 to end the game. Jerome Messam became the first player this year to break 1000 yards on the season. And your Calgary Stampeders have clenched first place in the west as well as the west final at home on November 20th. Stamps next game Saturday October 15th at home vs. the Montreal Alouettes for Pink Power day. Kickoff 5pm.
