Calgary Transit has a better idea of what happened when a C-train crashed in the northwest on September 20th.
Mechanical operations have been ruled out and Calgary Transit says the derailment at the Tuscany station was caused by human error.
“We’ve confirmed that the infrastructure and the train was working as designed and the derailment was caused by the operation of the train by the operator,” Transit Director Doug Morgan told reporters Thursday.
Transit has had a brief opportunity to talk to the train operator, but a full interview has not occurred.
The operator has told Transit she doesn’t remember what occurred.
“We’re not sure whether it was the trauma of the crash so the operator doesn’t recall,” Morgan said. “But as they recover, we’re hoping more information will come forward.
Three other people were on the train but the only significant injuries were to the operator.
