The $2.6 billion expansion at Calgary International Airport doesn’t open to travellers until the end of the month, but reporters were given a sneak peek of the new international terminal on Thursday.
The two million square-foot expansion doubles the airports size and makes use of new technology and innovation that airport officials will make a big impression on people going to and fro from destinations around the world.
Henry Stevens, with the Calgary Airport Authority tells Global News it’s got everything.
“It’s the whole package. I think people are going to find it’s a beautiful, iconic piece of infrastructure. Inside are a number of processes and pieces of technology that are going to speed their process through the terminal. It’s going to be a brand new experience that people are going to be really excited about.”
The terminal includes 24 gates, and more than 50 retail and food locations. It opens to the public Oct. 31st.
