History, as they say, is written by the winners. Sports history gives equal time to second guessing the loser.
The hot topics from last night’s Jays win, in order, are:
-How ’bout that Edwin Encarnacion?
-Who threw the beer?
-Why the hell didn’t Buck Showalter bring in Zach Britton?
Good question. 47 for 47 in save opportunities this year, season on the line, and Showalter’s digging in and defending his decision to go with Ubaldo Jiminez, who let two guys get on then served up the pitch that EE swatted into history, after Showalter had come out to the mound for a little chat. I have to join the chorus of questioners on this one. The Orioles had to shut down this threat and live to fight another inning. If Britton has to stretch into a second inning, so be it. Imagine if you were in a shootout in the Olympic hockey tournament, and you had Wayne Gretzky on the bench, and you didn’t use him. That’d be just plain cray…….oh…….waitaminnit….that happened…..
Hey Buck, have you met Marc Crawford?
