An Edmonton-based company has become the first ride-sharing service in North America to form a union.
TappCar spokesman Pascal Ryffel says historically drivers in the vehicle-for-hire industry have had to deal with low pay, no benefits and little to no training.
Ryffel says this collection agreement will not only make for a more positive work environment but it will likely help attract the best drivers to the company.
The contract with Teamsters Local 987 was finalized September 24th.
TappCar operates in Calgary and Edmonton.
