Unless Anze Kopitar winds up and punches Sidney Crosby in the face on the opening faceoff….I’m not seein’ a whole lot of animosity between the Canadians and Europe for the next couple of nights. (No, I don’t see this thing going three)
Team Euro exec Peter Bondra described his team as having no past, and no future, living only to play one more game. Sounds kinda cool and marginally Kafkaesque, but it’s not the sort of things to get pulses racing. I fully supported the idea of Team North America and Team Europe when this tournament was announced, and still do. They were way more fun to watch than, say….Switzerland or Latvia (Or, frankly, Finland) but when it comes to Vase for Victory (Can’t help it, that’s what the trophy looks like) This matchup doesn’t move my give-a-damn-o-meter.
Might check it out, might not. The itneresting thing will be a head to head comparison of the numbers for the World Cup final V Jays-Baltimore with the playoffs at stake.
