If Calgary submits a bid for the 2026 Winter Olympics, it will likely have the backing of the Canadian Olympic Committee. Calgary is the only city to come forward to say it is studying the feasibility of an Olympic bid for the 2026 Winter games. That means if Calgary does submit a bit, COC is expected to give its endorsement.
Last week a committee was struck to explore the possibility of a Calgary Olympic bid and will provide its findings next September. City council is expected to discuss the latest developments today.
Meanwhile, city administration has requested more time to work on a report on the CalgaryNEXT project.
A report on the proposed multi-million dollar complex was due in October. Council had also requested a Plan B report. Administrators have asked that the report be delayed until early next year for more time to talk with stakeholders.
