The Calgary Stampeders honored former running back John Cornish today before the game and at half-time against the Ottawa Red Blacks at home.
Andrew Buckley had the first touchdown of the game in the first with a 1 yard push and a failed 2 point convert to make it 6-1 for the Stamps.
The Red Blacks cut in to the Stamps lead with a field goal making it 6-4.
Still in the first and missing the convert for the second time Marquay McDaniel had a touch down to make it 12-4 Stamps. After the 1st it was Stamps 12, Red Blacks 7.
A few minutes into the second Jerome Messam charged into the end zone for another touchdown and this time the 2 point convert was good so the Stamps were up 20-7 over Ottawa.
But the Red Blacks came back with a touchdown of their own by Ernest Jackson making it 20-14 Stamps.
To wrap up the second Jamar Wall had a 55 yard pick six for a touchdown add a field goal by Mr. Automatic and it was 30-14 for Calgary.
There was no scoring in the third until the last few seconds when the Red Blacks made it interesting getting a touchdown with the clock reading 00:00.
But their attempt at the convert failed much like the Stamps first 2 ending the third with a score of 30-20 for Calgary.
In the 4th both team put points on the board with Ottawa getting a field goal early on and DaVaris Daniels getting his 3rd touchdown in 2 games.
Then Ottawa fumbled and Ja’Gared Davis grabbed the ball and ran the 13 yards for another touchdown, Parades came on for a field goal and it was 45-23 Stamps at the 3 minute warning.
Calgary added a few more points to make the final 48-23.
The Stamps had 418 offensive yards in the game and now sit at 10-1-1.
