A couple of information sessions are being held next month regarding the development of new city charters for Calgary and Edmonton.
The charters will help the cities address climate change, plan smarter communities, and work more efficiently on issues like tax assessments, affordable housing and bike lanes.
It was back in October 2014 when the province began working with the cities to create the charters.
The City Charters will work alongside the Municipal Government Act to give Calgary and Edmonton more flexibility in certain areas to make local decisions and take local action.
Calgary’s information sessions will be held October 11th from 5:30-8:30p.m. at the Calgary Elks Lodge and Golf Club in the northeast and also October 12th from 5:30-8:30pm at McDougall Centre.
