Safety concerns are being raised by a Calgary mother after her children, as well as others on a bus, sat on the floor on their way home.
“If that bus driver had to slam on his brakes for any which reason, these children are very small and easily could have flown to the front of the bus and seriously injured themselves.”
The mother, who did not want to be identified, spoke with Global News and says after the second day of school, her oldest told her about what happened.
“There were ten children sitting on the ground, on the floor of the bus.”
The mother adds that parents not registering their childen when they’re supposed to online, has caused an overload of children taking buses that might not have enough room.
The bus company, First Student Canada, says that the bus in question wasn’t at capacity with a lot of the children refusing to sit 3 to a seat, the maximum, but they shouldn’t have been allowed to sit on the floor regardless.
The company adds that despite that, they’ve switch the bus to one with a large capacity.
