A woman is dead and several other people injured following three unrelated crashes that occurred just minutes apart in the Airdrie-area on Wednesday.
The woman believed to be in her 20s or 30s was killed when a car and SUV collided at Highway 566 and Range Road 13 near Balzac around 3:30.
Another woman and a man were rushed to hospital with critical injuries.
Meanwhile a motorcyclist was taken to hospital with serious injuries following a crash near Cross Iron Mills.
And three people suffered non-life threatening injuries when a car sideswiped a pickup and crossed the centre median, colliding head on with another car on Yankee Valley Boulevard near the QEII.
RCMP Corporal Clint Chisam tells Global News first responders were put to the test.
“At one scene, then you’re rolling to another scene, and then you’re rolling to another scene. It certainly makes things difficult trying to keep track of all the involved, and the investigations themselves. However we were able to do that, and I think everyone did a good job in that respect.”
