A judicial hearing has heard a sexual assault complainant contemplated suicide after her experience with a Calgary judge in court in 2014.
Justice Robin Camp asked the woman why she couldn’t keep her knees together.
The woman, who can’t be named, said Camp’s attitude toward her made her feel like a slut and hate herself.
Court transcripts show Camp questioned the woman’s morals, suggested her attempts to fight off the man were feeble and described her as “the accused” throughout the trial.
Camp’s comments led the Alberta Appeal Court to order a new trial for the man he acquitted.
The Canadian Judicial Council is now considering whether camp should be removed from the bench because of his remarks. He’s now a federal court judge.
The hearing continues today in Calgary with testimony expected from Camp.
