Some good news for women in need of addiction treatment in Calgary.
Recovery Acres Society, already known for treating men in the city over the last 40 years, is now opening its doors for specialized treatment for women.
CARE (Co-occurring Addiction Recovery Essentials) for Women is an intensive out-patient treatment program that includes clinical psychological assessment, therapy, educational programming and relapse prevention over three months.
It allows women to continue with their jobs and their family responsibilities.
Statistics from 2014 found over 311,000 people in Alberta need treatment but are unable to find adequate services.
It’s estimated as many as 25,000 women in Calgary are in need of treatment.
