It’s the biggest symbol of the LGBTQ community.
Last night a huge rainbow crosswalk was painted downtown as Calgary’s Pride Festival kicks into high gear this weekend.
Crews were out painting $4,000 worth of paint on to 8th Ave. at Centre St.
Money for the paint was donated in a fundraising campaign.
The 26th annual Calgary Pride Festival culminates Sunday with the Pride parade.
Organizers say this is the largest one yet, with 140 entries and 4,000 people participating, and they’re hoping to surpass 60,000 spectators.
Later this morning, the pride flag will be raised at McDougall Centre for the first time ever.
