A disorder could be to blame for a man consuming 40 knives.
“A guy from India goes in to the doctors, he’s complaining, I got stomach pains. So you know they do the X-rays and stuff and they think that maybe hes got some sort of tumour,” says Bruce. “They open him up and they find the guys been eating knives…some of them open.”
Apparently doctors involved with the surgery were baffled, saying in 20 years they had never seen something like this.
“That story is not real Bruce,” says Betty Jo.
“You don’t believe it?” asks Bruce. “There are others who have done that. It’s a documented disease.”
Bruce learned this disorder is characterized by repeatedly eating non-nutritive substances over a period of a month or longer.
Betty Jo says this case reminds her of the show My Strange Addiction.
The Washington Post article states, this condition generally effects, small children, pregnant women, and people whose cultural environment is most compatible with eating non-food items.
