More than 150 properties on the west side of Okanagan Lake are under evacuation orders.
Officials instructed people to leave after an aggressive wildfire flared up last night near Bear Creek Provincial Park. The park campground, two nearby subdivisions and some rural properties are affected.
About 60 people registered after an emergency reception centre opened in West Kelowna overnight. Fire crews from several municipalities joined BC Wildfire Service patrols along the Bear Creek Fire, but the size of the blaze has not yet been determined.
A second fire on Godfriedson Mountain, 18 kilometers west of west Kelowna is being fought on the ground and from the air but is not believed to be threatening any structures.
