Police in Lethbridge are shedding more light on why they had to shutdown a major roadway for quite some time this morning.
Investigators say it started as a report of a suicidal man with a gun.
Officers were able to “disable” his vehicle along Whoop Up Drive, but that led to the roadway being closed while they negotiated with the man.
Shortly before six o’clock, he surrendered to police.
They found a loaded SKS rifle along with five full clips and one partial clip in the vehicle.
In a statement, Police Chief Rob Davis called it “an extremely dangerous situation for everyone involved,” adding charges are pending.
