A western wear retailer that has been open in Calgary since 1901 is shutting it’s doors.
The owner of Riley & McCormick, Brian Guichon, speaking to Global News, looks at rising taxes and the increasing minimum wage as two of the reasons to close up shop for good.
“Sales haven’t been good. That costs keep going up. I mean, I’m looking at increases in all my wages mandated by those in Edmonton. Also, taxes aren’t going down.”
Guichon also points to bad weather for the Stampede this year.
The store on Stephen Avenue will officially close its doors August 30th.
