Brianne Theisen-Eaton of Humboldt Saskatchewan fought back to win bronze in the women’s Heptathlon at the Rio Olympics. The two-time world silver medalist was in sixth after day one of the event. Solid long jump and javelin events allowed Theisen-Eaton to climb up to third spot going into the final event today. She finished third in the final 800 meter heat to finish with 6,653 points. Belgium’s Nafissatou won gold and Jessica Ennis-Hill took silver she was the 2012 champion in London. The bronze was Canada’s first in track and field at the Rio Olympics.
