A new poll shows Premier Rachel Notley’s approval has slipped to its lowest level since the 2015 election.
From a high of 60% approval in May 2015 down to 37% now.
That the finding in a new ThinkHQ poll done for Metro News, which shows 54% disapprove of the job Premier Rachel Notley has done.
And a split is emerging in the province, with her popularity much higher in Edmonton than in Calgary.
ThinkHQ’s Marc Henry says a bit of “buyer’s remorse” seems to be settling in as well.
“We actually found that 24% of people who voted in NDP in the last election now disapprove of the premier,” Henry said in a phone interview.
As for Wildrose leader Brian Jean, his approval sits at 45%, with 36% disapproval.
“His numbers went up significantly with the Fort McMurray fire,” Henry said. “I think there was a number of Albertans who certainly felt empathy for his situation personally as well as how he conducted himself during the fire. The Premier’s numbers also went up after the fires and it was largely in reaction to the government’s response to the fires.”
1,221 people were surveyed in the late-July poll.
